Where should I document my business expenses?

I added some of my expenses on a schedule C form,, I think I should put them under "supply expenses" .  How do I fix it?

Where should I document my business expenses?

Schedule C, Profit or Loss from Business tallies up the business's income and expenses, and the net income (or loss) flows from Schedule C to Form 1040, Line 12. So adding expenses to Schedule C is correct.  However, if you want to change the category of where you entered an expense, here are the steps:

  • Sign into your TurboTax account and click "Take me to my return"
  • In the Search box (upper right of program) search "schedule c" and click the "Jump to" link from results
  • Select Edit next to your Business and scroll down the next page to Business Expenses
  • Select Start/Update next to Other Common Business Expenses
  • The following page will list common business expenses including Supplies (click on screenshot below for detail)
