What is an Sch B code and where do I find it

Normally this message refers to a missing code when entering a 1099-Div or 1099-Int creating a Schedule B.  Many times if you enter a "zero" in a box, that will trigger a request for a corresponding code in another box.  You should not enter any zeros just leave boxes blank instead.  I suggest deleting your 1099-Div and/or 1099-Int forms and re-entering being sure no zeros or stray marks are in any non-applicable boxes.

Here is a link with some discussion on this experience.

Additionally,  if you did not enter any 1099-Div or 1099-Int information you can delete the Schedule B from your return.

  • Select "Tax Tools" in the left hand menu
  • Select "Tools" in the left hand menu
  • Select "Delete a Form"
  • Find Schedule B
  • Delete it
