If you do not have a net profit from your self-employment the health insurance premiums paid will not be used as a business expense. They will be entered on Schedule A as a personal itemized medical deduction.
ONLY Health insurance paid for your EMPLOYEES go on the Sch C itself ... do not enter your own health insurance there. Be very sure where you enter the personal insurance so the program can calculate the adjustment to income ( not a Sch C deduction) ... read the screens carefully...
Self-employed health insurance is an adjustment to income. As stated previously, if you have a Schedule C loss, it can't be taken. If you are able to take advantage of it, it would be deducted on the 1040 and affect your overall income. It will not count against social security and medicare taxes.
