Did you e-file?
Did you use TurboTax Online or the desktop version?
It should be impossible for Turbotax to put a number for itemized deductions on line 12 without preparing a Schedule A, all kinds of errors should occur. It should also be impossible for the schedule A to get "lost" by either Turbotax or the IRS during the e-filing process. (Unfortunately, It is quite possible that if you filed by mail, the data entry clerk could drop a page and lose it.)
Regardless of the reason, simply log into your account or open your tax file, print a copy of your return, and mail a paper copy of schedule A to the IRS office that sent the notice. If you are looking at a PDF with many pages, you can select which pages to actually print using your computer's printer options screen.
You need to provide more detail. What was your filing status? What tax year are you talking about?
The smallest standard deduction for 2020 was $12,400.
Based on that, you would not have used Schedule A.
Are you claimed as a dependent? The Standard Deduction for an individual for whom an exemption can be claimed on another person's tax return is limited to the greater of:
…..$1,100 or
…..Your earned income for the year + $350 (but not more than 12,400)
So you would get a minimum of $1,100.
See the 1040 worksheet on page 32
Good point @VolvoGirl . Just reiterates that we need more detail.
Did you perhaps claim itemized as Married Filing Separately? If so, it might be less than the Standard Deduction. Also, certain taxpayers, by law, are not eligible for the Standard Deduction. They include nonresident aliens, dual-status aliens and individuals who file returns for periods of less than 12 months
