Should I list my former legal guardian as a parent though I no longer am under their care?

I was raised by my grandmother under a legal guardianship, but this has expired. Neither of my birth parents file taxes or are in contact with me, but I am told I must file Form 8615 with a parent's social security number. I'm unsure who to list.

If the legal guardianship has expired, I would imagine that the date of expiration was a date set that you were then, at that point, considered an "adult" (18, I am assuming based on what you've stated). If this is the case, then unless you do not have a SS# I cannot imagine why the system would be requiring you to enter a parents' information unless you accidentally checked the "Yes"  box next to "can someone else claim you as a dependent for xxxx" when you were on that screen. Go back to your personal information and walk through that section to make sure that the system "knows" that you are claiming yourself on this return - if, in fact, you are independent and no one else has claimed you on their return already (or don't have legal authority to do so).
