LLC very very very short year

Alright, so this is a very unique situation. we wanted to dissolve our llc in 2021 but held off and didn’t get around to it until much later in 2021.

long story short, we ended dissolving it 7 days after the beginning on of 2022.

now, we know what forms to file, we’re just confused on how to file them:

option 1:

2021 partnership return as final year.

option 2:(which we think is ridiculous)

- 2021 partnership return

- then comeback in 2023 and file a short year 2022 partnership return as final year.

any advice on this, we really don’t want to go through the hassle of filing for ‘7’ days when honestly the business wasn’t even functioning and we were in the process of dissolution.

LLC very very very short year

If your LLC had no income or expenses in tax year, then you do not need to file a 2022 return, unless the process of dissolution gives rise to some taxable events such as sale of assets, recapture of depreciation, distribution to members.
