I own 32% of a small business. For filing am I considered self employed?

My company stock is vesting monthly. I am paid a salary by the company and recieve a W2. All expenses are done through the company and handled no different than any other employee.

Since your income is being reported on a W-2 you are considered an employee rather than a sole proprietor.

I agree with tax expert KatrinaB48.  However, there is at least one more item to be considered.  What form of company?   1120 or 1120S?

If 1120S, and you receive health insurance from the company, there are some some rules to be considered for an part owner of an 1120S.
