I count on TT to carry forward last year's numbers onto this year's return. For the 2025 Premier version, it is asking for Nondeductible Expenses from Prior Years. How on earth do I know?? That's why I use TT!
There are absolutely no instructions on this page. If I open the relevant form, there is a Carryover Worksheet. There is a 2024 Operating Loss. There is a Passive Disallowed Loss. I do not know what they are (well, generally I understand my losses were limited by income etc) but... there is nothing on the worksheets that show a "nondeductible loss."
Where do I get this information and what exactly is it asking me?
Thanks.
I have a vacation rental (mixed personal and rental.)

If you have your income tax records from 2024 (hopefully, you also used TurboTax for that year), it's fairly simple.
Look at your 2024 Schedule E Worksheet. You'll see an Expenses section with various columns, the most relevant being the operating expense carryover on Line 19f and the depreciation carryover on Line 18c.
Thank you, I'll look.
Wondering why TT doesn't simply tell me one way or the other? It has last year's return....
Pretty sure it does passive loss carryovers but not otherwise. I know it does not calculate NOLs but the records, if you retain them, have all of that information.
