My wife worked as a contracted employee for another company. How should I list her business in the tax return? should I list her boss's business as her own?

I'm a little confused by the return for self-employment. My wife really wasn't self-employed, but received a 1099-MISC as a contracted employee of another company. I'm not sure how to list her "business."

If your spouse received a form 1099-MISC, she is considered as self-employed, Her work is her "business". Her business does not need to have a trade name.

In TurboTax, in the Business section, define her business as briefly and accurately as possible. For example, if she is a photographer, just describe her business as photographer.

Against her income reported on form 1099-MISC, she can deduct expenses necessary to generate the income such as (if applicable) work mileage, office supplies, home office, etc.... You will see the different categories of expenses in the Business Expenses part of TurboTax.

Thank you. When the form asks if she has an EIN should I put her employer's EIN?

No, She does not have and does not need an EIN. Just leave it blank.
