Incorrect entry onSchedule 2

After I e filed my Federal Taxes I discovered that Schedule 2 has an incorrrect entry on Part 2, line 8 . I asked your support where did that figue come from and I was told it shouldn't be there and to submit an ameded return. Problem is I cannot remove or change the number. So I asked that Schedule2 be removed from my amended effort. Trouble is it won't do that and it makes my Tax bill be $30,000 more than I expected.

My  Financisl Adviser noticed the very large discrepancy.

When I completed the Amended return and tried to submit it, it won't acknowledge that I am owed a refund.

Do you have Form 5329 in your return?   Line 8 on Schedule 2 is additional tax on IRAs or other tax favored accounts.   There may have been an issue with your 1099-R forms.   I would recommend deleting the 1099-R forms and re-enter them to correct the issue.

How do I amend my federal tax return for this year?

Yes there is a Form 5329-S. It only has entries in Part IX. The Total is $11,152.00. The final entry on line 55 is 620. There is an entry on Form 1040-X, line 10 Other taxes 38,764.. I still don't understand where that number came from.

Is thiis some sort of SCAM going on here?

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.

If you're using TurboTax Online:

Once you're logged in to your account and have your amended return open,

- on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools

- on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent

- you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.

- click okay and you'll get another message with a token

If you're using TurboTax Desktop:

  • Click on Online in the top menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
  • Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
  • Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
  • We can then review your exact scenario for a solution

Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know all other states that are included on the return.

I sent you my tax info yesterday. I need to know that you got it OK and that it is still safe!

We need the token number to check your tax return.   See Kesha's instructions above and reply back here (in this thread) with the token number or a screenshot of the number so we can retrieve it.    The AI will remove email addresses or phone numbers (or any numbers that resemble a phone number).   Also, let us know what state returns (if any) are attached to your token file.   Thanks!

There were updates to the retirement section, so you want to delete your 1099-Rs and re-enter them before submitting your returns.   Form 5329-S is for an additional tax to one of your spouse's tax-favored accounts.
