If you are not Self-Employed and the 1099-Misc is a one-time payment, when you enter your 1099-Misc you can indicate that the income was 'not like my regular job' (screenshot), and 'didn't involve an intent to earn money' (screenshot).
This will make your 1099-Misc 'Other Taxable Income' instead of Self-Employment.
If you do want to report the income as Self-Employment, though, type 'schedule c' in the Search window, and 'Jump to schedule c'.
You will be able to enter info for your Business, including income and expenses.
