I only earned $585 last year from working. Do I have to claim this?

Someone told me I don't have to report earnings less than $600.

Was that your ONLY income for 2021?   Or did you have any other income from investments, rental property, etc. etc. etc.

If you file a tax return for any reason, you must report all your income.

You must file a tax return if you have more than $400 of self-employment income.

If you are married, you are filing separately from your spouse, and your spouse is itemizing their deductions, you must file a tax return if you have more than $5 of income.  (That's not a typo.)

For other situations, the filing threshold is between $2200 and $14,000, depending on your age and type of income. The IRS web site has a tool you can use.
