Legal expenses for employment and uninsured losses. This doesn't lower taxes owed. Should I even claim them?

You have not been specific about your uninsured losses----we have no idea if you mean theft or casualty losses, or whether those losses were related to a federally declared disaster.   And you have not told us anything specific about your legal expenses.  Were they personal legal expenses or were they incurred by a business you own?

Since the tax laws changed for 2018 and beyond, theft and casualty losses that are not related to a federal disaster are not deductible on a federal tax return.
