I have a sole proprietor LLC that has expenses this year (LLC License, etc.) but does not have any income this year. Can I claim the expenses?

I had income from the LLC in the last tax year, but not this year.  I anticipate having income from it next year.  I'm mostly concerned about being audited.  The amount of deduction is small.

I thought about removing it entirely, but I was afraid that might raise more questions.

You can have a year with expenses and no income ... that is not unusual.
