I have a K-1 entered using the steps.I can't get steps to flow $ to Form 8582 and Sch D where it should be. How do I enter this information manually in those forms?

I have a K-1 which I have entered using the steps. However, the K-1 instructions are to enter my income in box 11 on Form 8582, Line 3a. And, this income from Box 11 to Sch D, Line 12. I have $733 in Box 9c and Box 11. I have tried many different options in the steps to get this information to flow to Form 8582 and Sch D with no avail. How do I enter this information manually in those forms? Thank you

For TurboTax to automatically place this on Form 8582 Part I line 3a or 3b, the activity reported on the K-1 must be passive activity (you did not materially participate).

In the follow-up to the Box 11 code F entry, mark one or more of the first three checkboxes to indicate the type of income.

TurboTax will then ask you to apportion the code E amount among the types of income corresponding to the checkboxes that you marked.  If you indicate that it's a Capital gain (or loss) that is not portfolio income, you must indicate whether the gain is short-term or long-term.

The amounts that figure into the total on Form 8582 Part I line 4 also need to appear on the forms that correspond to the type of income being reported.  You may need to ask the partnership which type of income it is to be able to mark the correct checkboxes in the follow-up so that TurboTax automatically transfers the amounts to the correct forms.

If you have additional questions or comments regarding this, please feel free to post in the comments for further clarification.

I am having the same issue with passive losses not flowing to form 8582.  In my case, the K-1 is for a Publicly traded Partnership (PTP) so the losses are by default passive and I am not seeing a check box to say it is passive. Am I missing something?

PTPs are treated differently.

Each PTP tracks their own suspended losses which are not reported on the 8582.

There should be a separate worksheet reflecting your PTP suspended losses.
