The instructions are in the On Demand Tax Guidance, but they are easy to miss.

So I was e-filing. And it says this: "If you are e-filing your tax return, you will need to attach a PDF copy of your 1099-B or broker statement(s) when you transmit your return. We will guide you through this process at that time."
But it never prompted me to attach a PDF copy of my 1099-B when I transmitted my return. Why? Because it was from Box A (Short-term transactions for which basis is reported to the IRS)? That would be hopeful, maybe the attachment is unneeded?

That appears to be a fault in the software since there is no way to attach a PDF copy in the program (other than the procedure for attaching the transmittal form - 8453).
Yes, it appears to be a flaw in the program. Same problem last year. I just added brokerage statement to the 8453-FE form using the wonderful adobe Adobe program.
I cannot imagine why intuit doesn’t correct flaws in their program.
