I don't use my car for work. How do I get rid of that entry and proceed to the check out?

You can go back to the job-related expenses section and delete the vehicle.

  • Continue working on your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
  • Click Tax Tools (lower left side of your screen).
  • Select Tools.
  • In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
  • In the I'm looking for: box, type 2106.
  • In the results box, highlight 2106, then click GO.
  • You'll land on the Job-Related. Click Edit next to the entry for your job. (Click the first screenshot below for reference.)
  • Continue to answer the questions in this section. When you get to the Vehicle Summary, click Delete next to the entry for your vehicle. (Click the second screenshot below.)
  • On the Delete Confirmation screen, click Yes. (Click the third screenshot below.)
  • You'll return to the Vehicle Summary, with the entry for your car removed. Click Done. (Click the fourth screenshot below.)

Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function (instead of "Tax Tools") to search for the topic.
