To enter your self-employment income, open or continue your return in TurboTax, then:

  1. Search for Schedule C and select the Jump to Schedule C link at the top of the search results
  2. Answer Yes on the Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? screen.   If you land on the Your 2022 self-employed work summary page, select Review next to the work you're adding income for
  3. Answer the questions on the following screens until you arrive at Let's enter the income for your work
  4. Select Other self-employed income and select Continue
  5. On the next page, you can enter any income not reported on a tax form, see below

You will need to upgrade if you are going to enter expenses related to this income.

If you don't get a 1099-NEC, you have to keep records of your payments. You enter the information as you normally would, but you would indicate that you received cash. You will need the Self-Employed version.

 No 1099-Misc HOW TO ENTER

  1. First, sign in to My TurboTax
  2. Next, click the orange Take me to my return button
  3. On the white bar at the top, click Federal Taxes
  4. Then, Wages & Income
  5. In the Self-Employment section (you may need to click Show more), next to Income and Expenses, click Start (or Revisit)
  6. When asked "Did you have any self-employment income or expenses?" select Yes
  7. You'll see the screen titled "Tell us the type of self-employment work you do." Enter your description, then Continue
  8. On the next screen "Let's get income for [description]" select the button Additional income. Includes 1099-K, check/cash payments and Continue
  9. The next screen will say "Tell us about additional income for your [description] work." List descriptions and amounts on this screen

I wasn't sure where to go exactly - I went to 1099-MISC and said I didn't receive one and replied no to 1099K - was that correct?
