Just encountered a bug. No matter what I type in 5 months in "how many months did your child live with you" it defaults to 6 months. I've quit and restarted, nothing works. It's a bug plain and simple. I tried fixing in the form itself, rather than in the Easy Step process and it still defaults to "6". Any suggestions for a work-around or how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.
If you're using TurboTax Online:
Once you're logged in to your account,
- on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools
- on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent
- you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.
- click okay and you'll get another message with a token
If you're using TurboTax Desktop:
Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know all other states that are included on the return.
Do you already know about this bug? Btw, I'm in MAC desktop, not Windows as you had said.
Also where do i find my "token"?
sorry about multiple replies, but when I went to send to agent, it said it couldn't scrub the taxes of personal info and so couldn't send.
to be exact, it said
"Failed to create a sanitized copy of your data file."
I'm sorry you were having difficulty getting a sanitized data file. I just tested this situation on my Mac.
The first time I tried to enter anything less than 6 months, it changed to 6 as you described. When I tried selecting different numbers of months less than 6, it eventually accepted 3 months. Then, it accepted any number of months I selected. However, if I moved on and then went back to the screen, it defaulted back to 6.
Noted that it also states at this screen that it needs to be 183 days or more (to meet the standard of over half the year), and if it's 183 days or more you should choose 7 months.
So, the fact that it's selecting 6 months shouldn't make a difference on your return. Nevertheless, I am reporting this issue for further investigation.
