Did you have a W-2 with amounts shown in boxes 2 or 17 for federal and state tax withheld? Did anyone help you prepare your tax return? How long ago did you file the return? Did you e-file?
DID YOU E-FILE?
Did you e-file? Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted or rejected your federal e-file. If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.
Check your e-file status:

What does it say in your account? Does it show that the return was accepted? Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail?”
CAN I FILE A RETURN IF I AM A DEPENDENT?
If you can be claimed as a dependent on your parents’ return, you can still file your own return so that you can receive a refund of taxes withheld. Your W-2 will show federal tax withheld in box 2, and state tax withheld in box 17. (You will not get back anything for Social Security or Medicare withheld.) Be sure that on your own return you say that you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return.
You may not have gotten a refund because no taxes may have been withheld from your pay, which is common if you are a minor. You can look at box 2 on your W-2 form to see what your federal tax withheld was. If it is $0, that means no tax was withheld from your pay. If that is the case, it is not likely you would get a refund since that would normally mean getting back all or a portion of the tax you paid in. If you did not pay any tax in, you would not likely get a refund since there is nothing taken from you from which to pay you back.
If you did have taxes withheld, then your tax may have been more than what was withheld, in which case you would owe money. It is also possible the tax withheld from you equaled the tax you owe, so nothing was refunded or due.
You can look at the second page of your Form 1040 to see how your tax was calculated and how your tax withheld was applied to it.
