How can i reciece my stimulus check after somone had claimed me?

Unfortunately, if someone claimed you as a dependent you will not receive a stimulus check.  Dependents cannot get the stimulus check.  Do you fit the criteria to be someone else's qualifying child or qualifying relative?

WHO CAN I CLAIM AS A DEPENDENT?

You can claim a child, relative, friend, fiance (etc.) as a dependent on your 2019 taxes as long as they meet the following requirements:

Qualifying child

• They are related to you.

• They cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else.

• They are a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or   Mexican resident.

• They are not filing a joint return with their spouse.

• They are under the age of 19 (or 24 for full-time students).

    • No age limit for permanently and totally disabled children

They live with you for more than half the year (exceptions apply).

Qualifying relative

• They don't have to be related to you (despite the name).

• They cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else.

• They are a U.S. citizen, resident alien, national, or a Canadian or Mexican resident.

• They are not filing a joint return with their spouse.

They lived with you the entire year.

• They made less than $4200  (not counting Social Security)

• You provided more than half of their financial support. More info

When you add someone as a dependent, we'll ask a series of questions to make sure you can claim them.

If you should not/could not have been claimed as someone else's dependent, then you need to print, sign and mail your own tax return, since you will not be able to e-file this year.  Eventually the IRS will sort out whether you could be claimed.  If you do not get the stimulus check this year you can get it on next year's tax return---as long as no one claims you next year.

The IRS will not tell you who claimed you---you should ask the "usual suspects" if you do not know--parents, siblings, girlfriend or boyfriend, etc.  If someone you know claimed you, and they should not have claimed you, they can amend their return to take you off as a dependent, but even that is unlikely to help you get the stimulus check this year since it takes months for the IRS to process an amended return.

Wait 'Til Next Year.

"In essence, the stimulus check acts as an advance of your 2020 income tax refund. This means when you prepare your 2020 income tax return, there will be a line to include the section 6428 credit. The credit on your 2020 return is subtracted by any amount received as a stimulus check in 2020. If the amount you received as a stimulus check is less than the credit you are due, the difference will be included as part of your 2020 refund. If you have been overpaid by receiving the stimulus check, however, you will not be required to return any excess amount".
