According to the IRS, if you didn’t get a first and second Economic Impact Payment or if you got less than the full amounts, you could be eligible to claim the recovery rebate credit. The IRS says you must file a 2020 tax return even if you don’t usually file one.
To claim it, you must also know the amount of any first and second payments.
The only way to get the 1st and/or 2nd stimulus check is to file a 2020 tax return and use the recovery rebate credit. Did you file a 2020 return? If someone else could claim you as a dependent on their 2020 return then you cannot get the 1st or 2nd EIP payments.
If you are filing a 2021 tax return and cannot be claimed as someone else's dependent, then you can get the 3rd stimulus for yourself and for the children you claim on your 2021 return. You use the recovery rebate credit in the Federal Review section to get it.
