Farm Payment entries

Why does TurboTax ask for farm government payments under both the 1099G and Farm Income Sections? If I enter the payment in both sections is it counted twice as income?

You do not need to enter the information twice.

When you enter the 1099G  and link it to the Schedule F it will show on schedule F as income.

I cannot delete the information I was asked to enter under the Business Items for the Farm Rental Government payment (1099G) that I already entered in the Misc and Other Income section.  How do I do that?

If you input the information manually in the Farm section, you should be able to overwrite it. If not, and if it is truly entered twice on Schedule F, then delete the 1099-G.

To Delete a Form

Open your return in TurboTax.

  • In the left side bar, select Tax ToolsTools.
  • In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  • Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet and follow the onscreen instructions
