If your pay for working at a company was reported on a 1099-MISC, they company considers you to be an independent contractor and you must report the income as self employment income on Schedule C. You don't have to own a business to be self employed. If you have expenses associated with your self employed income, you must use Self Employed to file your taxes. If you have no expenses, you can use Deluxe or Premier.
You must pay 15.3% self employment taxes in addition to ordinary income taxes.
