I have TT desktop but I see no way to input the 1099 files from BoA or Schwab, though they apparently have been uploaded in the online version. How do I do this in the desktop version?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
To enter an investment sale -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under Investment Income
On Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B, 1099-DA), click the start or update button
Thanks for the suggestion, but entering a single investment is not what I am looking for. I want to the 1099s downloaded from financial institutions into TT desktop in an analogue manner to how TT online gets them.
Yes you can import 1099 forms into the Desktop program.
How to Import 1099 forms

You start from the same place as posted above. It will take you to a screen to pick the FI to import OR you can click on Skip Import at the bottom.
@jg167 Use the procedure posted, then -
On the next screen click on Yes
On the next screen click on Add investments
On the next screen enter the Institution name or Brokerage name and click on Continue
thanks. What was confusing me was that first it takes you to a screen to login to TT online, then to each of the financial institutions. It was the login to TT online that was messing me up. But all worked in the end. thanks again.
