Hi all,
Formed an S Corp in 2025 and got a 12 digit SOS corporation file ID starting with a 'B' from California. I called the Secretary of State and they confirmed they moved to 12 digit IDs in 2025 and phased out 7 digit IDs.
However, when filling out California S Corporation Information Worksheet, TurboTax only uses the first 7 digits of that 12 digit ID when entered.
Am I going to be forced to mail in just to add the extra 5 digits I need with a pen or is there a workaround to fix this? I'm using the Business Expert Assist Online product.
Any help is appreciated.

A workaround that others have used in this scenario is to enter all 0's in the 7-digit box, to ensure that e-filing eligibility is not disrupted.
I get a TurboTax error when entering in all zeros unfortunately. Also, are we sure Franchise Tax Board will accept a return with all zeros (or some other fake value for that matter)?
Yes, entering all zeros is an acceptable format to enter in the return, especially for newly formed businesses. Your EIN is tied to your business name, and the California Franchise Tax Board will recognize that when processing your return.
