$3202 is on Form 4952, line 8, but $2871 is on Schedule A, line 9 (for investment interest). I would prefer not to use an override on Schedule A. Any ideas?

Solved. A portion of the 3202 amount was on Schedule E schedule. The interest was paid by partnerships.

Take a look at the Form 4952 Investment Income Worksheet to see how the Investment Interest Expense was calculated.

The worksheet directed me to Schedule E. The worksheet however does not explain why only a portion of the interest paid by two of the three partnerships was moved to Schedule E. The good news is that the total deduction is being caught on the tax return.
