Turbotax supports their sofware for the current tax filing year and three year's back. The "current" tax filing year of 2018 ended permanently and forever on Oct 15, 2019. So you can only use TurboTax to file taxes for 2016, 2017 and 2018. You can ***NOT*** use the online version of the program for filing back taxes. The online version only supports the **CURRENT*** tax year.
Effective Oct 20th, 2019, the 2018 version of TurboTax online will be shut down permanently and forever, so they can prepare the online version for the 2019 tax filing season. You can only use the CD/Desktop version of the program which you will have to purchase and physically install on your Windows or Mac computer. You have to purchase a separate program for each tax year you need to complete.
Finally, you can not e-file a prior year tax return. The IRS says so. You have to print it, sign it and mail it to the IRS.
You can purchase the TurboTax program for prior tax years (three years back) at https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ However, at the time of this post I see that prior year's are not available. I can only assume it's because the programmers are in the process of updating that page to drop TurboTax 2015 and add TurboTax 2018 to the "past year's taxes" page.
2015 is gone now ... 2016-2017-2018 are all available ...
And if you need to file a partnership form 1065 you must use the BUSINESS version for that return ... it is only available as a download for a WIN computer (no MAC). And that was due 3/15/19 so it is very very late and the penalties are stacking up fast.
