I am a freelance model without an LLC established using a pseudonym, but I don't know if that qualifies as a business name?

Hi! I am a freelance model who went self-employed in June 2018 using Patreon as my sole source of income. I have not established an LLC yet as I have no employees and utilize a third party website to conduct my every day business. I use a pseudonym for all business related things, but I am unsure if this pseudonym would be considered my business name? I intend on filing for an LLC in 2019 but my LLC name will be different than my pseudonym. I'm stuck!

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Since you don't have anything formally established, you will report your income on Schedule C and you can indicate that your business name is the same as your name.  For the question about your business name, choose 'I use my own name' or 'the business is unnamed'.  You can reference your pseudonym in the work/business description if you want, but it is not necessary.   Same is true for your business address; you can use your home address as the business address.

For the question,

  • Does your work have an official name?     No, the business is not named or I use my own name
