on form 5695 how many years will a balance carry forward. I have $7027 credit using $2227 in 2018, line 16 says $4810 to 2019. anticipate next years(21019) taxes to be $2500.Will the $2310 be carried over to 2020 or lost?

Most likely, it will not be lost. Current regulations just state that the credit can be carried forward to future years. The reason this is unclear is because there is always a lot of debate about extending this credit or doing away with it. As long as the credit is available, the carryforward will be there long enough for you to use it. Also, the IRS doesn't usually strip away an established financial benefit. If you already have taken the credit, it should be available to you. However, I can't say this with 100% confidence because it is the IRS 🙂
