Question

Federal Review triggered an at-risk/passive activity question on my Schedule C. I misclicked and my federal due jumped $800. Question won't reappear. How do I fix it

During Federal Review in TurboTax Online, I was asked an at-risk or passive activity question related to my Schedule C self-employment income. I believe I answered it incorrectly. My federal tax due increased by approximately $800 after that point. The question did not reappear when I re-ran the review. How do I navigate back to that specific question to correct my answer? And how do I check if Form 6198 or Form 8582 was incorrectly generated?

In TurboTax Online, you'll navigate back to the Self-employment income menu (or click here), and select Edit next to your Schedule C business. The screen you need will look like this-

From here, scroll down to Uncommon situations and select the edit pencil

In this series of prompts, review your entries on the page Other business situations (most small taxpayers wouldn't be affected by these checkboxes, leave blank)

Finally, you'll get to the screen titled At-risk limitations

Make the selection "All of my investment in this activity is at risk."

Select Continue and follow the prompts forward, or navigate back to the Final review.

Here's how to print your PDF tax return document  to review. You can also select Delete a form under the Tax tools menu on the left to see a list of which government forms are included in your return currently.

If you need extra time, filing an extension by April 15, 2026, moves your submission deadline to October 15. But remember any taxes owed are still due in full by the original April 15 date.
