Education Credit

In 2017 I filed my return claiming the Education Credit. However I received scholarship money that exceed my tuition expenses so I shouldn't have taken the credit. In 2018, I do qualify to for the Education Credit since tuition exceeds the scholarship money received. Do I need to go back and amend my 2017 return?
