I use desktop turbotax deluxe bought from Amazon. No errors found. E-filed. Rejected for wrong AGI, but AGI is correct. the turbotax software keeps telling me to correct the agi for Renee. That is my wife. We always filed taxes with my name first. Why is the software switching the names when we efile? The IRS can't confirm an agi for my wife. It's in my name, my ssn. I can't reach a live rep. The recording tells me I used the free service so I need to pay 30 bucks for help, but I did not use the free service. I bought the software for home desktop. I can't get this fixed.

If you filed a joint return for 2020 the AGI is the same for each of you.   The AGI is on line 11 of your 2020 Form 1040.

Did you enter her name first when you completed the Personal Info section of the program?  If so, edit your information and put your name first.

Please read. I know where the agi is. I have triple checked it. The agi is correct.

Of course not. I put my name first. That was the first thing I checked. My name is first. The AGI from last year is correct, from line 11 on my 1040 of 2020's return. Yet my filing gets rejected and to correct it, your software says please enter the correct agi for Renee. Why? If the IRS is trying to match up her name and our last years return it won't work. How do I correct that?

First, please be a bit nicer.  All of us are trying to help you.  And the return is not before us, on our computer, where we would have a more complete idea of what you have and why it is not working.  If these are the facts:

you filed 2020 and 2021 the same way, MFJ.  For both years, your name and your SS# is on Top.  

Therefore, it is reasonable that when the IRS computers check for 2020 AGI, they would get the number you entered for 2021.
