How do I report the grants this was for 2015 and 2016

You only report the grants if they exceed your education expenses (including room and board). The excess grants are taxable and you may have extra tax to pay.

If your grants are more than your education expenses, the excess is taxable as scholarships and you should amend your tax return to report the excess of grants.
