It is hard to give a firm answer on this since we do not know your personal tax data or situation. The best thing to do is to do a mock tax return as married filing separate and then do one filing married filing jointly and see the difference between the two .
Generally married filing jointly gives people the most tax breaks and better refunds (if they are due a refund).
