With this child tax credit bill trying to pass I was wondering if I file now if I’d still get the extra if they pass it or if I’d have to amend it to get it

No one here knows if or when Congress will pass the proposed bill for enhanced child tax credit, or how/when it will be implemented IF it passes.  If you want to wait to file your tax return, you can wait.   Filing deadline is April 15---or if you are getting a refund or do not owe---you have three years to file it.

No one knows if or when this is going to pass.  Nor if it does pass if the credit is for tax year 2023 or 2024 or that how the credit is being claimed will change.  The IRS will publish the procedure that is required but that will be months after this passes, if it passes.
