I have filed both Federal and my state tax using TurboTax. All went well, I have received my refunds etc.
My question is, with all the changes to the 2020 tax laws in the stimulus plan, will TurboTax eventually have all those updates, and will there be a way for TurboTax to check previously filed returns to tell people if they need to file an amended return.

Did you receive unemployment in 2020? Most of the changes in the new tax law are for your 2021 return that you will prepare next year. But 2020 is affected by unemployment.
You are among millions who have now been affected by a mid-tax season change in the tax law. Patience will be necessary.
TurboTax will update the software for the unemployment but there is no timeline yet.
If you have not e-filed yet—-wait. And if you already e-filed and want to amend for this—WAIT.
Thanks, this will help, I do not think I will have an issue since I did not file for or receive any unemployment in 2020. I would still feel more comfortable if at a certain point Turbo Tax was sufficiently updated, and you open your already filed return, and TT checks it over, if it finds and issue, it tells you Hey, you need to file an amended return. Even better would be to have it check and say, you are good no amended return required, if none is required. Changing the rules after the fact is a little crazy, but I understand why it is being done.
