Why should I save a paper copy of my return if I have a PDF copy?

So long as you can safeguard the PDF copy, you don't have to.  I have copies of tax returns back to 1959 in PDF copies.  However, I also have them backed up to a flash drive and a separate backup hard drive.  Remember the basic rule:  There are two types of people:

• Those who have had a hard drive crash, and
• Those who will have one sometime in the future.
