Why is the portal to amend taxes not open.?

The Form 1040-X to file a 2025 amended tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 02/19/2026

An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

It is too early to amend your return.  You will be able to amend as soon as the federal amended tax return form 1040-X is available for filing in TurboTax.  Use this tool to check availability of forms, including 1040X: Tax form availability
