Why do I owe money after amending my tax return?

I filed my taxes mid January and haven't yet received my tax refund. I received a few more W2s and decided I needed to amend my return. Why do I now owe money to the IRS?

And you should wait to amend until you get the first refund. Then the amended return is only for the difference you get back or owe.
