Why can’t I get efile option for amending 2020 taxes

Sorry--an amended 2020 return has to be printed signed and mailed.    You will not be able to e-file it.

 Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

This wrong you can efile 19 , 20, 21 this is what the irs says but turbo is not doing it when they say they do

Per the IRS,

You can now submit the Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return electronically using available tax software products.  TT is not one of those products.

nobody can tell you anything irs clearly stated 19,20,21 can be amended by efile ! It’s right on there. Website but everyone tells you can’t !

Although the IRS allows amended returns from 2019 forward to be efiled  the TT program doesn't support that function.   Some paid tax pros do  so you can either pay one of those to efile it for you  OR   print, ink sign and mail in the 1040X.

TT only supports current year amended returns from when they become available in March until the efiling season ends in October.

If you filed your return with TurboTax, log into your account and select the tax return that you want to amend and follow the online instructions. For paper-filing amended returns, download a copy of IRS Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Income Tax Return. You can easily find it using the search function on the TurboTax website.

TurboTax only supports the e-filing of the current tax year federal amended tax return, 2021.  All prior year federal amended tax returns have to be printed and mailed.
