If your parents claim you as their dependent, they might be eligible for an education credit.
In that case they would subtract any money/scholarships you received through FASFA from the amount that was paid for expenses.
If there was more expenses (like Tuition, Book, supplies) paid than what you received, they might get a credit.
If you got MORE than what it cost for education purposes then YOU claim the excess.
If you and your parents both use TurboTax, the best way to do this is to have your parents enter the 1098-T (this reports the payments made to the school) and their program will tell them if YOU need to claim any of those funds as income.
