If you chose direct debit to pay your tax due to the IRS or state, you will simply have to watch your own bank account.  TurboTax only gives that information to the IRS or state; it is up to the IRS or state to debit your account.  TurboTax gets no information from them after you file your return.  TT will never know if you paid your tax due.

When you select direct debit in TurboTax, you enter a date when you want the payment to be made. But when you file after April 15 TurboTax forces the payment date to be the date that you file. The IRS may not take the payment immediately, but they will do it within a few days after your e-file is accepted. There is no fixed amount of time. It's possible that it will take a little longer than usual because of Columbus Day weekend.
