When i try to ammend my 2020 taxes, it appears that the software assumes i already received the refund from The IRS when i did not. Is there any way to fix this?

Does turbo tax always assume you received the refund for current year when trying to ammend or is there a way to change this?

Why didn't you receive the refund?  You should wait to amend until you get it.  You may have to switch to the Desktop program to override the refund.  Ask support for the desktop program.

@chadoberg

When you fill out Form  1040-X you have to assume that your refund is coming.

Your 1040 and 1040-X are processed separately.

Therefore TurboTax is correct.

IRS says:

"Any additional refund you are entitled to on Form 1040-X will be sent separately from any refund you haven’t yet received from your original return."
