When I go to the "amend my tax return" it says that my federal return can't be amended right now, and that the 1040X is not ready for processing. Can i amend my return?

Also, it said about a month ago that the form would be ready for processing, but now it says it won't be ready until 3/07/2019 but the date just keeps getting pushed back. Will it ever be ready for processing?

I share your frustration. The best information we have from the IRS currently is that the digital version of Form 1040X will be available on March 8, 2019. As you have learned, this date is subject to revision.

Amended returns cannot be e-filed. Your must print, sign, and mail Form 1040X, along with a corrected copy of any affected form or schedule.
