What is the status of my federal tax payment?

TurboTax will never know the status of your tax payments.    TT only passes on the information to the IRS or state for a direct debit, but never gets feedback or information as to when or if the payment was pulled.  You have to watch your own account.

When you set up a payment yo be taken from your account, you can select a date you did not then the program will set the payment to come out on April 15.  To check what date you selected:

1. Log into your account
2. Select Add a State to open the return
3. Go to Tax Tools
4. Print Center to view your tax return/worksheets

The payment date is listed on the Federal Information Worksheet, or defaults to April 15th if none was chosen.

If you mailed a check, per the IRS, "If it's been at least two weeks since you sent the payment to the IRS and your financial institution verifies that the check hasn't cleared your account, call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to ask if the payment has been credited to your tax account."  

If the check has not cleared and the IRS has not received the payment, you should place a stop payment on the check and make a new payment.
