If it's early in the month, sit tight. Employers have until January 31 to mail out W-2s, which means your W-2 should arrive any day now.
While you're waiting, here's some things you can do:
If you haven't received your W-2 by February 14, it's time to take action:
Verify your W2 was sent. Verify that there is an email link or mailed to correct address. W2s should be mailed by January 31 and post office delivered by February 14.
If your employer is refusing to give you a W2, talk to the IRS. Call the IRS toll free at 800-829-1040 or make an appointment to visit an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC). The IRS will send your employer a letter requesting that they furnish you a Form W-2 within ten days. Please click on this IRS link for full instructions and information.
