You do not mention whether you filed a joint 2021 tax return with your spouse. For this answer, I’m assuming you did file together and just want to add a 1099-NEC.
Click on the link provided by Champ @ee-ea for instructions for either TurboTax Online or Desktop.
To add a 1099-NEC:
- Type 1099-NEC in Search in the top right
- Select Jump to 1099-NEC
- Say Yes to Did you get a 1099-NEC?
- Tap Add a 1099-NEC on Do You Want to Enter Your 1099-NEC Now?
- Fill in your info
Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return.
If you live in a state with an income tax, you may have to amend your state return as well. TurboTax recommends waiting until your federal amended return is accepted before filing state.
If you want to track the status of your amended return, use the IRS Where's My Amended Return? tracking tool. Allow at least 16 weeks for the IRS to process your amended return.
