That letter from the IRS must have a phone number on it. Call them and provide proof that you paid. Your only proof that you paid is your own bank or credit card statement. TurboTax never knows how, when or even if you paid your tax due.
Another possibility: the bill is for taxes you owe (for example, from a previous year) over and above what you paid with your return.
Or.....does the letter say you owe more than the amount shown on your Form 1040? Lots of people made mistakes resulting in either reduced refunds or additional tax owed. Read that letter very carefully.
Do they say you still owe them the full amount you paid or how much? They might have changed your return and you owe more. If you owe like 1,400 or 2,800 etc. we can help explain it. Check your 1040 line 30. Lots of people made a mistake on line 30.
