We did not receive an IRS letter 6419, however we did receive checks in the mail in both our names. Do we add the total and divide by two to enter the amount we received?

Why would you divide by 2?  Are you filing a joint return?  Enter the total.

Turbo tax has a "Box 1, aggregate amount of AdvCTC payments" for both me and my wife, that's why I guessed at dividing the total in two.

Enter the total you received in any way you want on a joint return ... all on taxpayer, all on spouse or 1/2 on each ... all the matters is the total be correct.

If you got a letter 6419 it would show 1/2 for each of you.

That's why TurboTax has to show two boxes.

The whole thing is extremely error-prone, as a result of being pushed out in a hurry by the IRS.

I expect you did get letters, but misplaced or tossed them.
